To wrap up BLEED, Arts House has commissioned Witness Performance to produce a podcast exploring the work of the BLEED artists and their own relationship to technology and the digital landscape, using artist interviews and sound works from the BLEED program itself. The Witness commissions form part of BLEED Echo, a public program responding to and ricocheting from the five artist projects and curatorial conversations of BLEED.

Witness
Founded in March 2018 by Alison Croggon and Robert Reid, Witness (witnessperformance.com) is a non-commercial online site that answers the essential need for thoughtful, informed critical discussion of the performing arts. Witness publishes long-form critique that places work in its aesthetic, social and historical contexts. It seeks to complement and expand the product-oriented reviews and news-based articles that dominate contemporary discussion of Australian performing arts. As part of its core mission Witness has mentored many new voices, expanding the discussion around performing arts to writers and thinkers most often marginalised in traditional media, including First Nations and disabled critics. Its activities include reviews and essays on contemporary performance, podcasts and videos.
Ben Keene
Ben Keene is a composer, recordist and sound designer. He graduated with distinction from the RMIT Digital Media Course in 2016 and was awarded the RMIT Higher Education Award. He currently teaches Sound Design at RMIT. His theatre sound design credits include the Melbourne Theatre Company, Expressions Dance Company, TheatreWorks, Hoy Polloy and Big West Festival. Other sound design credits include working with Darrin Verhagen on Shinjuku Thief, and the AFI award nominated soundtrack The Boys in the Trees (2016). As a member of Finucane Smith he has composed and designed many works including Intimate 8 at the NGV, The Rapture, The Flood at XiXi International Theatre Festival in Shanghai and The Impossible Project at the Prague Quadrennial. Ben’s sonic installation practice includes the composition for a 6DOF chair experience directed by Daniel Schlusser and curating a sound installation for State Library Victoria, Intimate Surround, in 2018.
