BLEED is a six year project exploring the live experience across platforms, conceived and presented by Arts House (Melbourne) and Campbelltown Arts Centre (Sydney).
BLEED interrogates the digital that exists in our communities, consciousness and culture. It is a response to the unfolding power shift in our digital existence, which flashes between enthusiastic embrace and citizens, corporations and governments merging into an evolving dance of convenience and cooperation.
BLEED features art that spans platforms, each work seeking to understand, stretch and respond to these disruptive times. From URL to IRL and back again, these artworks greet audiences where they already reside: online, hyper-connected and virtually networked. The project explores different models of sharing art across borders within a digital public sphere: the new reality, relationships and conversations between artist and audience that can now be explored. BLEED will encourage different modes of engagement, asking what does the online feel like? And how has this feeling seeped into our everyday?
Partners Arts House and Campbelltown Arts Centre are working in partnership to redefine how Australian performance can be co-created, with residencies, research and presentations taking place across both sites, as well as online. BLEED takes place from the end June: in your pocket, in your home.
The first five co-commissioned projects are by Hannah Bronte; Alex Kelly, David Pledger, Robbie McEwan and Sophia Marinos; Angela Goh and Su Yu Hsin; James Nguyen and Victoria Pham and Emile Zile and Lilian Steiner. BLEED will be researched and developed in consultation with Sandpit Digital Studio’s Dan Koerner, Future Method’s Joel Spring, Miyuki Jokiranta and Akil Ahamat.
Arts House and Campbelltown Arts Centre acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands we work on, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples and the Dharawal people.
